Job description

Material Handler

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for Materials Handlers to join our team in Clinton, IL. We are looking for dependable and safety-focused employees to support daily manufacturing operations by moving raw materials, components, and finished products throughout the facility. This role helps ensure production teams have the correct materials at the right time while maintaining accurate inventory, a clean workspace, and safe equipment operation. The Material Handler will load, unload and move materials within or near the plant, yard and/or worksite and may work in multiple areas of the plant.

Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today's transmission industry standards and specifications.

What You'll Do:

  • Complete a pre-flight forklift inspection
  • Read work order or follow oral instructions to ascertain material or container to be moved/delivered
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and by forklift
  • Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area
  • Operate industrial fork truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and product
  • Move product going to the customer
  • Empty chip bins and trash containers as needed

What You'll Need:

  • Must be able to operate 40-ton forklift
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be a certified forklift operator
  • Must be able to follow safety guidelines/rules and employ safe working habits
