Description

Position Overview: Premier Staff Services, Inc. seeks dedicated individuals to join our client's team as a Package Handler. Successful candidates must be available for overtime when required. Package Handlers will play a crucial role in supporting operational activities, with responsibilities spanning various tasks on both the reverse and delivery sides of our operation. The primary focus is on safety and quality compliance.

Shift: Full time: 1st and 2nd shifts available. Part-time: Weekends-only shifts available

Hours: Varies on the shift selected

Key Responsibilities

General Material Handling:

  • Prepare new gaylords for replacement on the production line.
  • Inspect loaded pallets before removing them from the line.
  • Pull and replace gaylords as directed.
  • Properly close full pallets for shipping.
  • Stage pallets for shipment.
  • Prepare material handling area for setup.

Pallet and Sack Loading:

  • Utilize the brick stack method to maximize gaylord density.
  • Arrange pallets to optimize package flow on the conveyor.
  • Stay within the designated pallet building area during operations.
  • Select the appropriate pallet for each customer.
  • Follow the pallet-building process meticulously.
  • Use RF scanners to scan pallet IDs, parcel scanning, and package placement into containers.
  • Handle and load parcel sacks using approved methods.

Line Feeding:

  • Position pallets appropriately and handle stretch film or open postal sacks/bags.
  • Stack packages on the feed conveyor with labels facing up or forward.
  • Ensure a continuous flow of packages.
  • Identify and set aside opened, damaged, or empty packages, and promptly inform the supervisor.
  • Report completion of loads.
  • Move and empty pallets.
  • Maintain proper freight separation to ensure quality.

Induction Scanning:

  • Select packages from the feed conveyor and scan them following specific guidelines to ensure efficient scanning speed.
  • Measure packages to determine if additional postage is necessary.
  • Identify Priority Balloon NMF or Oversize items and flag them correctly in the system.
  • Ensure scans correspond with the appropriate mail class.
  • Identify and report opened, empty, or damaged packages to the supervisor.
  • Properly place scanned packages based on route codes.
  • Maintain scanning standards at or above the minimum requirements.
