Job description

Veterinary Urgent Care Technician
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists

Do you love the pace of urgent care, the variety of same-day cases, and the rhythm of swing shifts? Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is looking for an Urgent Care Veterinary Technician to join our emergency and specialty team during an exciting period of growth.

CCVS is physically expanding to better meet the needs of Cape Cod, the Islands, and the surrounding communities. Our expansion will bring additional space, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and continued growth across our emergency and specialty services. For technicians who enjoy urgent care, this means more opportunity to develop clinical skills, collaborate with a broad medical team, and be part of a hospital that is actively investing in its future.

This role is ideal for a veterinary technician who enjoys hands-on patient care, client communication, and helping patients who need timely treatment but may not require full critical care support. You will work closely with our veterinarians and emergency team to help assess, treat, and support non-critical urgent cases presenting through our ER service.

About This Role

As an Urgent Care Technician, you will assist veterinarians throughout the patient visit, helping provide efficient, compassionate, and high-quality care. Cases may include, but are not limited to:

  • Bandage changes
  • Ear cytologies
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Lameness exams
  • Wound care
  • Minor injuries
  • GI upset
  • Skin and ear concerns
  • Triage support for stable urgent cases
  • Client education and discharge support
You will be part of a talented, cohesive, and compassionate team focused on exceptional patient care, strong client service, and supportive collaboration across departments.

Who This Role Is Great For
  • This position may be a great fit for a technician who:
  • Enjoys urgent care cases and the variety they bring
  • Likes swing shifts and working during the busier parts of the hospital day
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Wants to build stronger technical and clinical decision-making skills
  • Enjoys client education and helping families understand next steps
  • Appreciates a role that blends general practice knowledge with emergency medicine exposure
  • Wants to continue growing through structured training, mentorship, and continuing education
  • Is excited to join a hospital that is expanding its space, services, and opportunities for advanced veterinary care
Training and Professional Growth

At CCVS, we believe in investing in our nursing team. We offer an extensive in-house training program with incentives as you progress through nursing levels. We fully support team members who wish to obtain their CVT, RVT, LVT, or VTS and offer a generous education allowance based on experience.

Our team members have access to:

  • In-house continuing education
  • Vet Bloom and online CE opportunities
  • CE days
  • Support for local and national conferences
  • VTS training track, including expense reimbursement, doctor mentors, rate review, and bonus upon completion
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of general practice experience preferred
  • Strong interest in urgent care and emergency medicine
  • Comfort working swing shifts, weekends, and a holiday rotation
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach

You Might Also Have

  • CVT, RVT, or LVT
  • Desire to obtain technician licensure
  • Interest in pursuing a VTS
  • Experience in urgent care, emergency, specialty, or high-volume general practice
Schedule and Compensation
  • Full-time position with benefits
  • Compensation range: $22–$32/hour
  • Schedule includes swing shifts, weekends, and a holiday rotation
