Job description

Estate Planning Attorney

An established New York law firm is seeking an Estate Planning Attorney to support its estate planning practice in the Rochester or Buffalo, NY area. This is a growth opportunity for an attorney with at least three years of practice experience and a strong foundation in estate planning, wills, trusts, and related estate law.

 

Responsibilities

  • Draft wills and related estate planning documents.
  • Supervise or assist with the execution of wills and related documents.
  • Advise clients regarding estate planning matters.
  • Apply knowledge of wills, trusts, and estate laws.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as necessary.
  • Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients.
  • Manage matters in an organized and timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and firm matters.
  • Exercise sound legal judgment when evaluating client circumstances and formulating advice.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Estate planning experience required.
  • Detailed knowledge of wills and estate laws.
  • Knowledge of trusts and estate planning.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, legal reasoning, and research skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong customer service and personal service orientation.

Compensation

  • The compensation range is $105,000 to $120,000, depending on experience. A discretionary year-end bonus is paid in December.

Benefits

  • The benefits package includes United Healthcare/Oxford medical insurance, with the firm paying 80% of the individual medical premium. Additional benefits include Guardian dental, Guardian long-term disability, FSA, a 401(k) through ADP without a company match, Aflac, MassMutual life insurance, paid time off, and approximately 10 paid holidays. Medical benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment.

Location

  • Rochester or Buffalo, New York. The opportunity is not intended to be fully remote; the specific office location should be confirmed.

Additional Information

  • The position is part of a growing estate planning practice within a broader estates department. Training is provided on the systems used for the role, including Outlook, Time Matters, the LegalShield system, and LPA.
  • No writing samples or references are required when submitting candidates. The client is open to candidates who graduated from any accredited law school.
  • The interview process consists of one in-person interview, with a decision made after the first interview.

Salary Range: $105,000 to $120,000
