Wellness Intern
**Two internship opportunities are available: one for Spring 2027 and one for Summer 2027.**
Are you passionate about health and wellness and helping others achieve their goals? If you're organized, motivated, and eager to gain hands-on experience promoting employee wellbeing, this internship could be a great fit for you.
What You'll Do: As our Wellness Intern you will work alongside our two Wellness Specialists to assist with planning, marketing and implementation of a variety of fitness classes, education, health and wellness promotion and incentive programming to improve the overall health of the Farm Bureau Family. You will also provide encouragement and guidance in a safe, enjoyable and supportive atmosphere by assisting employees with wellness equipment and facility resources. You will also keep employees up to date on current wellness news, activities and information throughout our company intranet site, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint site, bulletin boards and email reminders.
As an intern, you will also participate in corporate activities designed to provide exposure to our industry, organization, and culture. Our internship program follows an 80/10/10 approach:
  • 80% of your time will be spent performing meaningful work and project-based assignments within your department.
  • 10% of your time will be dedicated to learning from and networking with employees in other areas of the organization.
  • 10% of your time will be spent participating in shared internship experiences that provide insight into our culture, leadership, and business operations.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:
  • Be a current college student pursuing a degree in health and wellness, kinesiology, exercise science, public health, health promotion, or a related field.
  • Strong written, non-verbal and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to motivate, encourage, and engage others in wellness activities.
  • Ability to work during the semester hired for (Spring 2027 or Summer 2027), Monday through Friday 6am-2:30pm in-person from our West Des Moines, IA office.
