Client Overview
Our client is looking to add a Payroll Coordinator to join a dynamic and dedicated Human Resources team committed to supporting organizational excellence, employee success, and seamless operational efficiency. They foster a collaborative work environment that values accuracy, continuous improvement, and high-quality service delivery.
Salary/Hourly Rate
$32/hr - $38/hr
Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, assists in the preparation, adjustments, and processing of bi-weekly payroll and related reports. Responsible for daily activities related to employee change of status, merit increases, and contractual benefits. Must be able to calculate overtime, on-call, garnishments, and shift differentials, as well as calculate and pay retroactive salary increases, prorated salary for new hires, and final pay for terminated staff. The schedule is from Monday to Thursday, and the ideal candidate will work 40 hours a week.
Responsibilities Of The Payroll Coordinator
  • Reviews timesheets for completeness and correct overtime, vacation, and sick leave allocations.
  • Reviews total time worked by employees and records data concerning transfers or terminations.
  • Enters data into the Payroll Application to adjust wages and records changes affecting net wages (such as exemptions and insurance coverage) to update master payroll records.
  • Examines employee payroll files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
  • Administers employee garnishments and levies received from agencies.
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions, and deposits IRS-FICA deductions.
  • Generates statistics, requests additional information as needed, researches, collects, compiles data, and verifies reports for accuracy and collation.
  • Ensures payroll is in compliance with union agreements and prepares AFLAC reports.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality, seamless customer service.
  • Performs other activities as required by management.
Required Experience/Skills For The Payroll Coordinator
  • Supplemented by 3+ years of payroll experience to include wage, tax, and benefit calculations.
  • Knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Windows.
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and compute ratios, rates, and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form, including policies, procedures, and union contracts.
Preferred Experience/Skills For The Payroll Coordinator
  • Prior experience handling public sector or municipal payroll processing.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma is required.
