About us: Especially Kidz is a pediatric skilled nursing facility located in Shelbyville, Indiana. Especially Kidz is seeking a compassionate Staff Development Coordinator to become a part of our team where our primary goal is to provide exceptional care to our residents.
About the Role: Especially Kidz is seeking a Staff Development Coordinator to-
  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding process from candidate interviews through completion of the employee's 90-day introductory period.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements, new-hire orientation, department training, competency validation, and ongoing check-ins to support a successful transition into the facility.
  • Independently plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate facility educational programs based on resident needs, staff development needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain new-hire orientation, continuing education, and in-service training programs in collaboration with department leaders.
  • Create and manage monthly training calendars, lesson plans, learning objectives, testing, and return demonstrations to assess employee competency.
  • Ensure all required State and Federal training and in-service requirements are completed and properly documented.
  • Maintain accurate records of orientation, attendance, training topics, competencies, certifications, and other required personnel-file documentation.
  • Partner with department leaders to identify performance concerns, training opportunities, and additional support needed for new and current employees.
  • Maintain current knowledge of facility policies, resident rights, clinical standards, and regulations affecting resident care, and communicate updates through formal and informal education.
  • Coordinate student clinical rotations and serve as a facility liaison for nursing schools and other healthcare training programs.
  • Serve as Program Director and/or instructor for nursing assistant training programs, when applicable, in accordance with State and Federal requirements.
  • Promote employee engagement, professional development, regulatory compliance, and retention across the facility.

About you: The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience:
  • Must be a Licensed Nurse in the state of Indiana.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate effectively with residents, representatives, visitors, families, and employees.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with nursing employees.
