Job description

EMI USA has 40 years of experience serving hundreds of ministry clients around the world. The US office is located in Colorado Springs, CO at the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Our team of around 25 staff run our own design projects, as well as support other EMI offices around the world, assisting them with designs, and caring for American expatriated staff .

The US office provides master planning and concept-level design services on many of our international projects along with owner’s representation in design-build infrastructure projects. EMI USA is a leader in WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), Disaster Response, and has become a global leader in mission healthcare design. As one of EMI’s larger offices, EMI USA has a heavy focus on discipleship of young professionals with several interns and fellows throughout the year.

To better meet the current demand of client requests and to expand our ability to serve in mission healthcare around the world, EMI USA is currently seeking an experienced electrical engineer with leadership experience to join the team in Colorado. This position works alongside other staff to live out the mission of EMI to develop people, design structures, and construct facilities that serve communities and the church.

Payrange: $7,000 - 11,000 USD per month

Qualifications Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and project management work
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Experience in team leadership and management strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to think and act strategically at multiple levels
  • Ability to manage and supervise people and projects from around the world and from diverse technical backgrounds with humility and confidence, and a relational style that promotes teamwork and unity while advancing planning and implementation in a systematic way
  • Adaptable; Able to redirect one’s own and the team’s work priorities and assignments as needed to respond to change
  • Physical Requirements: Able to walk around large sites for field investigation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and working knowledge of AutoCAD
Responsibilities EE Team Management and Development (40%)
  • Maintain, adjust and implement vision and mission for the office’s electrical services including refining our strategies as needed to respond to changes in staff, client needs, and/or opportunities around the world
  • Provide general administrative oversight of the electrical team and work
  • Coordinate regular meetings of all electrical staff and review progress on staff's reported activities
  • Cultivate new opportunities and initiatives including new areas of service, ministry clients and other strategic opportunities
  • Ensure electrical staff assignments to projects is appropriate to the project’s needs and individual team member’s growth and learning objectives
  • Assure electrical teams (staff, interns and volunteers) are prepared before trips commence
  • Review designs post-trip and provide design input throughout the duration of the project
  • Monitor compliance with scope of work laid out in EMI’s client agreement and estimated level of effort for the project to assure EMI’s resources are properly allotted to each project
