Job description

Emery Oleochemicals is Hiring – Chemical Operator

Emery Oleochemicals is seeking a qualified Chemical Operator to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role is critical to maintaining production quality, process stability, and compliance within a manufacturing environment.


Job Purpose

Produce process product by preparing, establishing, monitoring, and controlling production processes while maintaining quality, safety, and cleanliness standards. The role also includes documenting production activities and maintaining equipment reliability.


Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Preparation
  • Review production schedules, drawings, and processing specifications

  • Retrieve materials from inventory and coordinate laboratory sampling/approval

  • Calculate and measure materials

  • Inspect tanks, vessels, piping, valves, steam traps, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, reactors, separators, mixers, and distillation systems

Process Control & Monitoring
  • Set and program processing controls and operating parameters

  • Operate Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

  • Monitor processing variables, alarms, and operating logs

  • Evaluate process stability and adjust controls as needed

Quality & Documentation
  • Obtain and test process samples

  • Conduct inspections and recommend process improvements

  • Log processing statistics and maintain production records

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks

  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions

  • Report and escalate operational issues

Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain a safe and clean processing environment

  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Patrol assigned unit areas

  • Prepare systems for product changeovers using cleaning agents

Shift Continuity
  • Communicate operational status, irregularities, and ongoing needs during shift transitions


Skills & Experience Preferred
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or chemical processing

  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and process improvement

  • Experience with controls and instrumentation

  • Distillation and/or vacuum system experience strongly preferred

  • Ability to analyze information and maintain manufacturing quality standards

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work more than 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week

  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (7:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.–7:30 a.m.)
