Sentara Albemarle Medical Center - Elizabeth City, NC is hiring an experienced nurse manager for the Emergency Department!
This position is eligible for the Management Incentive Bonus!
Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is seeking an experienced and dynamic Emergency Department Nurse Manager to lead the daily 24/7 operations of the Emergency Department. The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for supervising patient care services staff, coordinating quality and customer service initiatives, assisting with departmental budget development and monitoring, coordinating purchasing and payroll processes, and serving as a clinical and technical resource for team members. This leader will also provide operational support and mentorship to staff while ensuring exceptional patient care and departmental performance.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, relationship-based leader with exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to implement sustainable change. This role is well suited for someone who is passionate about continuous improvement, team engagement, accountability, and driving strong patient care outcomes. Experience with Emergency Department metrics and reporting tools is preferred.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of leading high-performing teams, fostering accountability, improving clinical and operational outcomes, and creating a positive culture of engagement, professional development, and retention. This leader will be skilled in coaching and mentoring staff, building strong interdisciplinary relationships, and driving initiatives that support quality, patient safety, and exceptional patient experiences.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Master's Degree (MSN) preferred

Licensure/Certification
  • Current North Carolina RN License or Multistate Compact RN License required

  • ACLS and PALS or ENPC certification required within one year of hire

Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of acute care RN experience required

  • Prior supervisory experience is required.

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, located in Elizabeth City, NC, serves northeastern North Carolina with a caring team of approximately 650 employees and 150 medical providers. Our 182-bed facility features 25 specialties including emergency, maternity, orthopedics, medical, and surgical care in addition to our outpatient laboratory, imaging, and comprehensive breast services. In 2022, Sentara broke ground on a new campus, a state-of-the-art 88-bed hospital to replace the current 60-year-old facility on North Road Street. The 135-acre campus, coming out of the ground at Halstead Boulevard Extended and Thunder Road, will be known as the Sentara Albemarle Regional Health Campus. It is projected to cost about 200 million, up from the original estimate of 158 million, due to sharp spikes in costs for building materials and medical equipment.
