What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Emc Engineer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EMC Engineer, you need a deep understanding of electromagnetic compatibility principles, circuit design, and regulatory standards, usually backed by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with EMC testing equipment, simulation tools like CST or HFSS, and compliance certifications such as iNARTE or CISPR are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are important for conveying complex test results and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These skills are essential to ensure products meet regulatory requirements and operate reliably in real-world electromagnetic environments.

What does an EMC Engineer do?

An EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that electronic devices and systems function properly in their intended environments without causing or experiencing electromagnetic interference (EMI). They conduct tests, design shielding solutions, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. EMC Engineers work in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, telecommunications, and consumer electronics. Their role helps maintain device reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

What are some typical challenges faced by EMC Engineers, and how are they addressed on the job?

EMC Engineers often face the challenge of diagnosing and mitigating unexpected electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues in complex electronic systems, especially as devices become more compact and interconnected. Troubleshooting can require creative problem-solving, running repeated tests, and collaborating closely with design, hardware, and compliance teams to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Continuous learning is also necessary due to evolving regulatory standards and new technology trends. Job description

What if you could work on highly specialized medical technology where electrical design decisions directly impact real-world patient care โ€” while also getting hands-on ownership across RF systems, embedded electronics, next-generation product development and manufacturing support?

A growing medical device company in the Orlando area is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative engineering team developing advanced electro-mechanical and patient monitoring technologies used in demanding clinical environments.

This is an onsite role based in Orlando, FL, with daily interaction across engineering, manufacturing and leadership teams. The environment is fast-paced, highly technical and best suited for someone who enjoys broad ownership, hands-on engineering work and solving complex real-world problems rather than being siloed into a narrow specialty.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing

  • Lead electrical design, development, testing and sustaining engineering activities for next-generation medical devicesย
  • Design and prototype analog and digital circuitry, embedded hardware and processor-based systemsย
  • Develop and support RF and wireless systems, including Bluetooth and related communication technologiesย
  • Support EMC/EMI and FCC compliance testing activities at external test labsย
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing and regulatory teams throughout the product lifecycleย
  • Review PCB layouts and provide guidance on shielding, grounding, signal integrity and noise mitigationย
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex hardware and system-level issuesย
  • Support manufacturing and production teams with root cause analysis, design improvements and product releasesย
  • Generate technical documentation including design specifications, architecture documents, test reports and engineering change documentationย
  • Assist with risk management activities, regulatory documentation and product compliance effortsย
  • Participate in development of next-generation products as well as sustaining support for released systemsย

What Theyโ€™re Looking For

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineeringย
  • Several years of hands-on electrical engineering experience in commercial product development environmentsย
  • Strong experience with:ย
  • Analog and digital circuit designย
  • Embedded hardware systemsย
  • Microprocessor-based designsย
  • Signal acquisition and conditioningย
  • Power conversion and battery-powered systemsย
  • PCB design and layout reviewย
  • Experience with RF/wireless systems and related testingย
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI mitigation techniques and FCC complianceย
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging hardware in real-world environmentsย
  • Strong understanding of full product lifecycle development from concept through manufacturing supportย
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving environmentย
  • Excellent communication and documentation skillsย

Preferred Experience

  • Medical device industry experienceย
  • Experience working within regulated environments such as ISO 13485 or FDA-regulated developmentย
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601 standardsย
  • Experience supporting external compliance or certification testingย
  • Exposure to risk management methodologies and design controlsย
  • Experience with LabVIEW or related lab/testing toolsย

Environment & Culture

  • Highly collaborative onsite engineering environmentย
  • Small engineering team with broad technical exposureย
  • Hands-on, execution-focused cultureย
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced engineering leadershipย
  • Fast-paced development environment with a mix of new product development and sustaining engineeringย
  • Direct involvement in solving complex technical challenges across hardware, RF, embedded systems and manufacturing supportย

This role is based onsite daily in Orlando, Florida.
