Description
As an EMC Design Engineer, you will evaluate, design, and optimize EMC solutions for
Apple products. You will be responsible for ensuring that products meet EMC
requirements and regulations. In this role, you will combine technical expertise with
innovation-conducting design reviews to assess potential risks, creating
comprehensive test plans, and analyzing results to guide problem-solving.
- You will think systematically about products as integrated designs, understanding how individual components and subsystems contribute to overall EMC performance.
- You will work collaboratively with design teams, test engineers, and cross-functional partners to develop and implement solutions.
- You will contribute to your team's collective knowledge by sharing best practices and lessons learned across projects, supporting first pass success on future designs.

Review printed circuit board (PCB) schematics and layouts for emissions and immunity control
Partner with our vendors on defining component specifications and validation procedures to meet EMC requirements at the system level.
Prepare comprehensive test plans, supervise the execution of test plans and compilation of test reports
Define validation requirements and training of test engineers on the collection of data at factories and Apple labs
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical causes of EMC failures and identify solutions that are agreeable to cross-functional partners
Review and analyze data from multiple designs, present findings to peers, partners and management and recommend design changes
Preferred Qualifications
MSEE / PhD with a specialization in electromagnetic fields and/or applications
Detailed understanding of design and testing of ITE products for EMC compliance and in EMC/ ESD debug techniques
Track record of creating innovative solutions for product development and/or improve EMC processes.
Experience with electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, ADS, and PowerSI
Experience in one or more of the following fields: Wireless Power Transfer, Antenna, Signal Integrity, Power Integrity
Experience with Matlab and scripting for test automation and data analysis
In-depth knowledge of worldwide EMC regulations, test methods, and standards, including EN55032, EN55035, IEC61000 series, and ETSI 301 489 series
Experience with EMC lab equipment such as spectrum and vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and transmission line pulsers (TLP)
Minimum Qualifications
BSEE or equivalent experience in electromagnetic fields and/or applications
7+ years deep subject-matter expertise in EMC, ESD, RF, and/or signal integrity areas
Proficient in schematic and layout review of PCBs for emissions and immunity control
Able to perform CAD review of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC compliance
Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with other engineers and cross-functional partners
Effectively partner with EMC Test Engineers to develop test plan, coordinate proto and validation testing, and generate EMC certification reports.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Willing and able to support occasional international travel to other Apple sites, vendors, and contract manufacturers
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $216,200 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
