Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor film embossing machines (including shim loading, temperature/pressure controls, web tension systems, and cooling systems) and high-speed slitting/rewinding equipment.
  • Perform precise web handling tasks, including loading/unloading rolls, splicing, edge guiding and tension control.
  • Conduct in-process quality inspections including; visual defect detection, and other measurement tools to ensure films meet customer specifications for holographics, security features, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues such as web breaks, alignment problems, registration errors, or material defects; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs on embossing and slitting lines to maximize uptime.
  • Accurately complete production reports, quality logs, material usage records, and shift handoff documentation.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members on continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and support our strong year-over-year growth.
  • Assist with material staging, roll handling, and packaging of finished product for shipment.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience operating film printing, embossing, slitting, coating, or similar web-handling machinery in a manufacturing environment (holographic, flexible packaging, or converting experience strongly preferred).
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills with servo-driven systems, PLC interfaces, tension control, and precision web handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, job specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality output with minimal defects.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and equipment interfaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise and temperature variations.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing, automation, or related field is a plus.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with cast-and-cure holographic processes, film embossing, or security feature production.
  • Familiarity with web tension systems, or similar industrial automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of 5S, Lean manufacturing, or ISO quality standards.
  • Forklift or material handling certification.
