Embedded Payments information

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in Embedded Payments roles?

Professionals in Embedded Payments often face challenges such as integrating payment solutions seamlessly within existing platforms, ensuring robust security compliance, and maintaining a smooth user experience. They must collaborate closely with product, engineering, and compliance teams to adapt to evolving regulations and rapidly changing technology standards. Staying updated on industry best practices and anticipating potential issues in payment flows are also crucial for success in this role.

What are embedded payments?

Embedded payments refer to the seamless integration of payment processing capabilities directly into software platforms, apps, or websites, allowing users to make transactions without leaving the environment they’re in. This technology streamlines the payment experience for both businesses and customers by reducing friction and automating payment flows. It is commonly used in e-commerce platforms, ride-sharing apps, and marketplaces, enabling instant and secure transactions. Embedded payments help businesses enhance user experience and can open up new revenue streams by offering value-added financial services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Embedded Payments roles, and why are they important?

To excel in Embedded Payments, you need a solid understanding of payment processing, financial compliance, and software integration, typically supported by a background in finance, computer science, or related fields. Familiarity with APIs, PCI DSS compliance, and payment gateway platforms like Stripe or Adyen is often required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills help professionals navigate complex integrations and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These skills are essential to ensure secure, seamless payment experiences that meet regulatory standards and drive business growth.

Job description

About The Company

Xformative Payment Systems is a late stage start up that was conceptualized and established to offer card based and payment product capabilities associated with healthcare and benefits. The business is entering its growth phase and will be expanding beyond its current markets. At XPS, every member of our small, agile team can drive and create impactful work. Our flexible and fully remote work setup allows you to balance your professional and personal life seamlessly while contributing to our exciting growth journey.

XPS is looking for an experienced Business Development Executive to help accelerate our expansion into the $21B North American embedded payments market. This is an opportunity to join a well-funded, high-growth organization with the agility and excitement of a startup, led by experienced leadership, strong business partners, and a product strategy built for long-term growth.

In this role, you'll identify and develop new market opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and close enterprise client relationships across multiple industry verticals. You'll play a role in helping define where we grow next while bringing valuable market intelligence back to our product and executive leadership teams.

If you're energized by creating markets, opening new doors, and influencing strategy, not just executing it, we'd love to talk with you.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, manage, and close new business opportunities while building a robust pipeline across targeted vertical markets.
  • Identify high-potential vertical software companies and establish strategic partnerships that accelerate market growth.
  • Sell embedded payment processing, ledger services, and related financial technology solutions to enterprise clients.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify and prioritize adjacent markets and new embedded finance opportunities.
  • Build relationships with executive decision-makers, technical buyers, and strategic partners.
  • Represent the company as a thought leader at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Bring the Voice of the Customer and Voice of the Market back to product, strategy, and go-to-market teams to influence future product direction and commercial strategy.
  • Negotiate creative partnership structures and commercial agreements that create long-term value.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of B2B technology sales, preferably in embedded payments or developer-focused platforms
  • Deep understanding of embedded payments, payment processing, card issuance, cloud-native APIs, or embedded finance.
  • Experience building strategic partnerships and developing new markets.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to engage both executive and technical audiences.
  • An established professional network within fintech, embedded payments, vertical software, healthcare technology, or benefits administration technology.
  • Experience structuring creative commercial partnerships and negotiating strategic agreements.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and build processes as the business scales.
  • Prior startup or early-stage sales and product leadership experience is a plus
  • Available to travel as needed to client sites, events, or internal meetings, about 30% of your work schedule
  • Comfort with virtual meetings (camera-on) and remote team collaboration

Why Join Xformative?

  • Help shape the go-to-market strategy for Xformative, an emerging leader in embedded payments.
  • Join an experienced executive team with a track record of success.
  • Work alongside outstanding business and technology partners.
  • Be part of a company entering new markets and building the next generation of its sales organization.
  • Have a direct impact on company strategy, product direction, and long-term growth.

If you're excited about building something meaningful, influencing strategy, and helping define the next chapter of growth in embedded finance, we'd love to hear from you.
