Manager, Banking Operations
Summary
This role offers the opportunity to lead a Banking Operations team responsible for transaction processing, document processing, new business account openings, and ongoing account documentation review.
The manager will oversee team performance, support career development, guide staffing decisions, and help shape the strategic direction of the business function. This role is ideal for an operations leader who enjoys balancing day to day execution with broader business planning, process improvement, and budget support.
Major Duties
  • Manage a call center for a treasury management specialty product.
  • Support management in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and controlling risk issues within the team.
  • Maintain adequate coverage for all team tasks by identifying training needs and preparing partners as required.
  • Assist with the development and effective implementation of systems, processes, and project changes for the call center.
  • Oversee performance management and career development processes, participate in staffing and disciplinary decisions, and provide hands on staff training.
  • Set periodic goals, organize workloads, establish short term priorities, monitor activities, and ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Handle broad, cross functional, and technically complex activities.
  • Balance operational responsibilities with the development and execution of strategic direction for business functions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • College or university degree and proven Banking Operations work experience preferred.
  • Prior management experience required.
  • 5 to 10 years of banking experience preferred.
  • Related industry qualification, such as ACCA, preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to set goals, manage priorities, and motivate team members to achieve results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • In depth banking knowledge.
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with committees and senior management.
  • High flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.

Salary Range:
$103,000 - 175,200 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
