We are seeking a data-driven, revenue-focused Email & SMS Marketing Manager to own our
lifecycle marketing engine and maximize revenue, retention, and customer engagement across
our owned channels.
This role is responsible for building, forecasting, executing, and optimizing Email and SMS as a
primary revenue and retention channel. You will own the customer lifecycle experience post-
capture, ensuring list health, conversion performance, and a strong returning customer rate.

Responsibilities:
โ€ข Revenue Ownership & Channel Performance
  • Own monthly Email & SMS revenue forecasting, pacing, and performance against targets.
  • Plan, build, QA, schedule, and deploy all Email and SMS campaigns across promotional, product launch, merchandising, and brand initiatives.
  • Build and manage campaign calendars aligned with product launches, promotions, and merchandising priorities.
  • Monitor channel health including deliverability, engagement rates, frequency management, unsubscribes, spam complaints, and opt-outs.
  • Identify opportunities to scale send volume responsibly while protecting list quality, engagement, and brand trust.

โ€ข Campaigns & Automated Flows
  • Strategize, build, execute, and optimize all Email and SMS campaigns across US and International markets using Klaviyo.
  • Own lifecycle automation including welcome series optimization, abandoned browse/cart/checkout, post-purchase, replenishment, winback, loyalty, and VIP flows.
  • Continuously optimize templates, copy frameworks, creative layouts, subject lines, send times, and automation logic to improve conversion and revenueโ€ข Segmentation & Personalization.
  • Build advanced segmentation strategies to improve targeting, personalization, and performance.
  • Regularly audit segments to remove low-quality, inactive, or non-performing audiences.
  • Leverage behavioral, transactional, and engagement data to improve message relevance.

โ€ข Retention & Loyalty
  • Own lifecycle retention strategy utilizing Okendo Rewards and loyalty programs.
  • Drive healthy returning customer rate through post-purchase engagement and repeat purchase strategies.
  • Partner with eCommerce and CX teams to improve customer lifecycle touchpoints.

โ€ข Onsite Capture Optimization
  • Own strategy and optimization of onsite pop-ups and forms to improve Email & SMS opt-in conversion rates.
  • Test messaging, incentives, timing, and UX for maximum opt-in quality and compliance.

โ€ข Reporting & Optimization
  • Build weekly and monthly performance reporting for campaigns, flows, and lifecycle KPIs.
  • Present channel performance, forecasts, and optimization plans to senior leadership.
  • Translate insights into actionable improvements across strategy and execution.

โ€ข Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Creative, Merchandising, Paid Media, Product, and eCommerce teams to align campaign execution and messaging.
  • Provide creative briefs and performance feedback to support high-converting assets.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Email & SMS marketing experience within DTC or eCommerce environments.
  • Proven experience owning lifecycle marketing programs, flows, and campaign execution.
  • Advanced experience with Klaviyo including segmentation, automation, deliverability, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills with a revenue-focused mindset.
  • Experience presenting performance insights and pacing updates to leadership.
  • Deep understanding of lifecycle marketing, retention strategy, and channel health management.

Compensation Information: Born Primitive is committed to pay transparency. The anticipated compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. Final compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, internal equity, and other legitimate business considerations. This position may also be eligible for additional benefits and incentive compensation, where applicable.
