About the Role

The This Old House (TOH) digital team is looking for a Digital Media Marketing Manager to lead lifecycle marketing, audience engagement, and membership growth for the TOH Insider program.

This role will own the strategy, execution, optimization, and reporting for Insider marketing efforts across email, automation, retention, and conversion campaigns. The ideal candidate is equal parts strategic marketer, lifecycle operator, and audience growth thinker who understands how to use data, storytelling, and customer journeys to drive subscriptions and engagement.

This person will work cross-functionally with editorial, production, product, design, social, and analytics teams while also managing external creative and production partners. The role will play a key part in bringing Insider marketing operations fully in-house and building a more scalable, data-driven membership program.

The estimated annual base salary for this position is between $126,000 and $144,000 with additional equity. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographic location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

This position will be based in Stamford, Connecticut and will be in office Monday - Thursday with the option to work from home on Friday.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead lifecycle marketing strategy for the TOH Insider membership program
  • Own email marketing campaigns, automated journeys, retention initiatives, and conversion funnels
  • Develop and manage audience segmentation, lifecycle cohorts, personalization, and automation workflows within Ortto to deliver targeted, behavior-driven marketing campaigns.
  • Develop campaign strategies focused on membership acquisition, engagement, and retention
  • Analyze campaign performance and deliver actionable insights to optimize results
  • Partner with editorial and production teams to align Insider campaigns with broader content initiatives
  • Support broader TOH newsletter initiatives, including general audience and commerce/shop newsletters
  • Manage external creative and production agency partners for campaign execution and design support
  • Oversee campaign QA, scheduling, approvals, and deployment processes
  • Proactively monitor campaign performance and marketing operations by identifying data quality or workflow issues, validating audience segmentation and campaign logic, and partnering with technical teams to resolve issues before they impact members or reporting.
  • Help establish reporting frameworks, testing strategies, and growth KPIs for the Insider program
  • Collaborate with product, analytics, and leadership teams on audience growth opportunities and membership strategy
  • Maintain consistent brand voice and messaging across all lifecycle marketing touchpoints
  • Identify opportunities to improve conversion rates, engagement, and member retention through testing and optimization

  • 5+ years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, CRM, or audience development
  • Experience managing subscription, membership, or direct-to-consumer marketing programs
  • Strong understanding of lifecycle marketing strategy, retention funnels, and audience segmentation
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation and CRM platforms, ideally Ortto or similar tools
  • Experience building and optimizing automated customer journeys
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret campaign performance and audience behavior
