Job description

Position acts as the Wood Products Manager for the Wood Products department of Sunrise Enterprises of Roseburg, Inc., a private nonprofit corporation that provides community inclusion and employment services for adults with disabilities. The Manager’s main responsibility is to oversee the daily operations of the mill, ensure efficient production, vocational training, purchasing, safety, scheduling, and sales. The position must have and exhibit proficiency in all of the workstations in the mill.

Qualifications:
  • Six years of production supervision experience, preferably in wood products.
  • Two years of experience related to providing employment services to people with disabilities.
  • Experience in marketing, sales and public relations a plus (or acceptable combination of education and experience).
  • High-school diploma or GED, or acceptable combination of experience and education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills and experience leading teams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve any issues that may arise during production.
  • Advanced knowledge of sawmill operations and safety procedures.
  • Intermediate computer skills; email communication, word processing, and cloud-based applications, including Microsoft 365, timekeeping applications, and case management software, e.g. SetWorks, Paycor.
  • Excellent verbal and written positive; fosters open, collaborative, and experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred but not required (training is provided).
  • Proven, stable employment history.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurable by Sunrise insurance carrier required.
  • Pass criminal history check (May include fingerprinting.) and pre-employment drug screen including marijuana/THC.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Required to obtain OIS Certification and believe in its philosophy.
  • Must have ability and desire to relate to people with physical/mental disabilities with dignity and respect.
Working Conditions/Hours:
Typically, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday or as determined by supervisor due to contract requirements. Evenings and weekends may be required. May need to travel for occasional meetings. Exposure to dust, noise, and various weather conditions.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Standing for extended periods of time. Occasional walking. Frequent stooping, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. Able to handle and diffuse tense or difficult situations. Reasonable accommodation will be provided for a person with a disability under ADA.
Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for obtaining new customers and the overall profits of the mill.
  • Developing, maintaining and balancing a yearly budget for the mill.
  • Assure quality of Wood Products services and product.
  • Facilitate and implement TQM and communication systems.
  • Supervise staff and perform other personnel management functions within Wood Products Department.
  • Implement and participate in safety programs.
  • Analyze and implement efficient production methods to maximize revenue.
  • Develop and implement market strategies.
  • Procure and renew contracts.
  • Participate in keeping balance between production and training with OARs and standard operating practices.
  • Facilitate and participate in team meetings.
  • Serve as part of the corporate management team.
  • Attend staff meetings and ISP meetings when necessary.
  • Insure and maintain security of Wood Products buildings and property.
  • Implement and ensure preventative maintenance programs for property, assets, and all equipment.
  • Serve as program liaison to customers, consultants, other service agencies and providers.
  • Develop and implement annual budget for Wood Products.
  • Prepare timely performance evaluations of all staff supervised on an annual and or as-needed basis.
  • Purchase contract materials and supplies within prescribed limits.
  • Oversee task analysis, time studies, and workflow studies completed by Wood Products staff.
  • Interview, hire, coach and assist in training of all new hires.
  • Network with community partners.
  • Produce and update staff scheduling.
  • Keep accurate production records.
Support Functions:
  • Assure quality of Sunrise employment services.
  • Provide production training to individuals with intellectual amp; developmental disabilities ensuring detailed skills amp; quality outputs are maintained.
  • Serve as a role model for appropriate work behaviors, social skills, respect for others, and cooperation.
  • Assist the employment services participants to acquire and develop the skills, behaviors, attitudes, and personal characteristics required to function effectively in a work environment.
  • Follow all participant protocols, including training, employment, medical and behavioral supports.
  • Ensure job stations for trainees are set up prior to their work shift, ensuring that processes are in place to keep the flow of material to job stations constant.
  • Provide transportation to participants as needed.
  • Complete and provide evidence of trainings to meet state requirements for Employment Professionals.
  • Available to participate in the development of ISPs with Employment Services (must come to agreement of ISP before presenting to ISP team).
  • Submit all required paperwork to respective recipients by scheduled due dates (e.g., record training efforts, participant productivity, progress towards ISP goals, case notes, incident reports, etc.).
  • Keep relationships with participants professional and limited to work settings and supports. Notify your supervisor of any conflicts of interest due to preexisting relationships with participants.
  • Report any safety hazards, accidents, incidents of neglect, abuse, emergencies, or problems to supervisor and/or appropriate person per policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
