What is Elixir?

Elixir is a programming language used on the Erlang virtual machine. This platform offers a framework for fault-tolerant coding and engineering, with a particular focus on web development and software applications. A key feature of Elixir is its focus on lightweight coding and built-in tools for running tests and remote debugging. The focus on web applications also means that Elixir handles topics like scaling to handle many users at the same time. Elixir is a functional programming language that is easy to read and relatively easy to learn, making it a popular choice for companies that want to produce web-based applications outside of a browser environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Elixir developers when working in teams, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Elixir developers often work in environments where concurrent and distributed systems are key, which can lead to challenges in coordinating code changes, managing shared resources, and ensuring clear communication among team members. Effective collaboration often relies on maintaining well-documented code, utilizing version control best practices, and participating in regular code reviews. Teams can further address these challenges by adopting common conventions for structuring Elixir projects and leveraging tools like collaborative chat platforms or pair programming sessions to share knowledge and resolve issues quickly.

What is an Elixir developer?

Elixir developers are software engineers who specialize in building applications using the Elixir programming language. Elixir is a dynamic, functional language designed for building scalable and maintainable applications, especially for concurrent and distributed systems. Elixir developers often work on backend services, real-time systems, and web applications, leveraging the Erlang VM for fault-tolerance and high performance. They are skilled in writing efficient code, designing systems for concurrency, and often use frameworks like Phoenix for web development.

The Enterprise Account Executive (Enterprise AE) is a high-impact sales role and a key contributor to Elixir’s revenue growth and business development efforts. This individual is responsible for acquiring new enterprise customers, expanding relationships with existing clients, and cultivating strategic partner alliances that drive market reach and long-term growth. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with exceptional relationship-building skills, a strategic mindset, and a proven track record in complex B2B sales. Success in this role requires the ability to navigate enterprise sales cycles, understand customer and partner business challenges, identify mutually beneficial opportunities, and effectively articulate Elixir’s value proposition. Working cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders, the AE will develop go-to-market strategies, foster strong partnerships, and execute initiatives that align with Elixir’s corporate objectives and revenue targets.

Essential Functions

  • Drive revenue growth by acquiring new enterprise customers, expanding existing accounts, and developing strategic partner relationships that support Elixir’s business objectives.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets through direct sales efforts, partner-led opportunities, and account expansion initiatives.
  • Develop and execute account and partner business plans focused on revenue generation, market expansion, customer acquisition, and long-term relationship growth.
  • Build, manage, and maintain a robust sales pipeline, leveraging Salesforce and other tools to accurately forecast opportunities and track progress from prospecting through contract execution and closure.
  • Lead complex sales cycles involving enterprise customers and strategic partners, including opportunity qualification, discovery, solution positioning, proposal development, demonstrations, negotiations, and contract finalization.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Alliances, Pre-Sales, Product Management, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, Executive Leadership, and Legal Counsel to ensure successful deal execution and customer outcomes.
  • Review, negotiate, and execute customer and partner agreements, including master service agreements, subscription agreements, statements of work, sales orders, and other contractual documents, ensuring alignment with Elixir’s business objectives, legal standards, pricing strategies, and risk management practices.
  • Deliver compelling presentations, product demonstrations, and business reviews that effectively communicate the value of Elixir’s cloud-based CCM solutions, AI-driven automation capabilities, and digital transformation offerings.
  • Identify, develop, and nurture strategic partnerships and reseller relationships that expand Elixir’s market presence, generate qualified pipeline, and accelerate revenue growth.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and market developments to identify new business opportunities and provide insights that support go-to-market strategies and product direction.
  • Represent Elixir at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, trade shows, and networking opportunities to strengthen brand awareness and cultivate new business relationships.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers and partners by understanding business challenges, recommending tailored solutions, and fostering long-term strategic relationships.
  • Provide regular reporting on sales performance, pipeline health, partner activities, market intelligence, and revenue forecasts to leadership.
  • Advocate for Elixir in the marketplace by securing customer references, case studies, testimonials, and other forms of social proof.
  • Adopt Elixir’s mission and culture: At Elixir, we’re about more than technology. We’re about people. Our goal is to revolutionize how brands connect with customers on a human level. Elixir is a customer-first, people-centric, trans-continental team with heart. Being multicultural is part of our DNA. It’s something we’re proud of. It brings different points of view and multiple advantages to every innovation we bring to life.

Competencies

  • Proven ability to identify and develop business opportunities, understand customer and partner needs, and deliver tailored solutions that drive value, strengthen relationships, and achieve business objectives.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise sales methodologies, including prospecting, qualification, discovery, solution positioning, presentations, negotiations, and closing complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of customer communications management (CCM) software, cloud-based technologies, enterprise software solutions, and strategic partnership models, with the ability to align business challenges to Elixir’s offerings and value proposition.
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets through direct sales, account expansion, partner collaboration, and strategic business development initiatives.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executive stakeholders and collaborate across cross-functional teams, including Sales Engineering, Marketing, Product Management, Customer Success, Finance, and Legal.
  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and expand trusted relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders, serving as a strategic advisor while driving long-term business growth and customer success.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex sales environments, balance competing priorities, and deliver results in fast-paced, evolving markets.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and results-oriented, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs while maintaining a high level of professionalism, accountability, and performance.
