About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified NDT Ultrasonic Technician to join our premier aerospace manufacturing facility. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with cutting-edge aerospace technology and contribute to the safety and quality of critical aerospace components. As part of our elite quality assurance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our aerospace products meet the highest industry standards and regulatory requirements.


Position Overview

The NDT Ultrasonic Technician will be responsible for performing comprehensive ultrasonic inspections on aerospace components, materials, and assemblies throughout various stages of the manufacturing process. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to interpret complex ultrasonic data to identify material discontinuities, defects, and structural anomalies that could compromise the integrity of aerospace components.


Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Testing

  • Perform ultrasonic testing on a wide variety of aerospace materials including titanium, aluminum alloys, composites, and high-strength steel components

  • Conduct straight beam, angle beam, and immersion ultrasonic inspections according to established procedures and aerospace specifications

  • Utilize advanced ultrasonic equipment including phased array systems, automated scanning systems, and conventional ultrasonic flaw detectors

  • Inspect critical aerospace components such as turbine blades, structural forgings, castings, welds, and composite assemblies

  • Perform thickness measurements and corrosion mapping on aircraft structures and components

  • Execute bond testing on honeycomb and composite structures to ensure proper adhesion


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasonic testing using conventional UT and, when qualified, advanced methods such as phased array (PAUT) and/or time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD).

  • Inspect welds, castings, forgings, structural components, piping, and other materials as required.

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate ultrasonic testing equipment.

  • Interpret A-scan and other UT data and evaluate indications in accordance with applicable codes and specifications.

  • Prepare clear and accurate inspection reports, test records, and documentation.

  • Identify, document, and communicate defects or discontinuities that do not meet applicable acceptance criteria.

  • Follow approved written procedures, customer specifications, and applicable industry codes and standards.

  • Maintain inspection equipment and verify calibration status.

  • Work safely and comply with company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.

  • Communicate inspection findings effectively with quality personnel, engineers, supervisors, and customers.

  • Travel to customer sites or field locations when required.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • NDT certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) in accordance with applicable employer, customer, or industry requirements.

  • ASNT Level II certification in UT strongly preferred.

  • Experience with weld inspection and interpretation of ultrasonic indications preferred.

  • Familiarity with applicable NDT standards and codes, such as ASME, AWS, API, ASTM, or equivalent, depending on industry requirements.

  • Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and inspection procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and/or travel when required.

  • Valid driver's license may be required for field assignments.


Preferred Qualifications

  • PAUT and/or TOFD certification or experience.

  • Experience in aerospace, oil & gas, power generation, manufacturing, structural steel, or other applicable industrial environments.

  • Additional NDT certifications such as MT, PT, VT, or RT.

  • Experience using computerized NDT data acquisition and reporting systems.

  • Current safety training and site-specific certifications.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment as required.

  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, or outdoors when required by the assignment.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
