Decision Technologies seeks a qualified AN/SPS-48 Depot Repair Technician to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia Position Description: The candidate will provide technical assistance in radar component, unit, and system level troubleshooting, repair and testing of AN/SPS-48 and/or USMC radars using previous experience and technical documentation. Work will be accomplished in a lab or submarine environment using standard electronic test equipment and mini / micro miniature repair techniques. The technician will document troubleshooting results and provide problem resolutions or recommendations. The candidate will also be responsible for installation of complex system upgrades, performing/executing Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), and performing System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) [HE1.1]and documenting results. MUST HAVE an active Secret security clearance Responsibilities and Duties: • Support engineering efforts related to design, testing and analysis of AN/SPS-48 radar upgrades or modifications. • Develop 2D Auto CAD drawings using engineering specifications. • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) from engineering specifications, technical drawings and other technical documentation. • Perform depot level troubleshooting and repair of AN/SPS 48 radar assemblies, subassemblies, and circuit card modules, including RF, analog, digital, servo, and power distribution components. • Execute precision diagnostics using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, and automated test equipment (ATE). • Conduct full system alignment, calibration, and performance verification in accordance with Navy technical manuals (e.g., NAVAIR, NAVSEA, and SPAWAR documentation). • Interpret engineering change orders (ECOs), technical directives, and modification instructions to implement system upgrades and configuration changes. • Support teardown, refurbishment, and rebuild of radar components including transmitters, receivers, signal processors, antenna/drive systems, and cooling systems. • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations on returned components to support reliability improvements and engineering feedback loops. • Ability to interpret technical documentation including electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, military technical manuals and other technical documentation. Required Qualifications and Skills: • Secret security clearance • Associate's degree in Technical Field / Technical Certification or AN/SPS-48 Navy NEC • Experience managing funding, reporting on financial status and projecting resource requirements Desired Qualifications: • Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting AN/SPS-48 and/or USMC (Gator TPS-80, GBAD MSY-2 or MSY-3, or MRADR) surveillance radars using electronic test equipment including, but not limited to multi-meters, power meters, and oscilloscopes. AN/SPS-48 radar NEC preferred. • Practical experience installing equipment onboard ships • Ability to follow/interpret technical procedures and document results. • Micro miniature repair experience. • Ability to fabricate multipin copper connectors and fiber optic terminations. • Familiar with OSHA safety procedures including electrical safety, working around energized equipment, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). • Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD). • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills. • Technical writing. • Personal computer skills. Competent with MS Office applications.
