Job description

How Youโ€™ll Contribute:

At Diversified, we design and deliver technology solutions that protect, connect and elevate the worldโ€™s most complex environments. Within our Electronic Security Solutions (ESS) team, we go beyond traditional security, engineering integrated electronic security systems including IP-based access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection systems that safeguard people, assets and operations.

The Senior Design Engineer โ€“ Electronic Security is a key member of the ESS Design Engineering team, leading the design and development of complex electronic security systems across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept through construction and delivery.

Working across access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated security systems, you will define system requirements, develop detailed designs, and ensure alignment with client objectives. You will collaborate with Solutions Architects, project teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

This role combines technical design leadership, project engineering, and cross-functional collaboration, with responsibility for mentoring team members and supporting continuous improvement across ESS engineering practices.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

  • Lead design of complex electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated solutions.
  • Define system requirements and develop concepts, specifications, and detailed designs aligned to client needs and project scope.
  • Produce and review design documentation, including drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting documentation for proposals and RFPs.
  • Manage design deliverables across all project phases (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC, shop drawings), ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
  • Perform quality control reviews, ensuring designs meet standards, identifying improvements, and driving design accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align design, engineering, and delivery across the project lifecycle.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend security technologies, system architectures, and integration approaches.
  • Support project engineering activities across multi-region and complex deployments, including client engagement and expectation management.
  • Mentor Design Engineers and Associate Design Engineers while contributing to continuous improvement and ESS engineering standards.

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in ESS systems design, integration, or engineering required.
  • Proven experience leading engineering efforts within ESS domains such as access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Strong understanding of system integration, project engineering processes, and field-to-office feedback loops.
  • Skilled in process improvement methodologies, technical governance, and cross-functional coordination, with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven leader and communicator skilled in engaging stakeholders, managing vendors, coaching teams, and coordinating enterprise technology training.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret performance data, identify trends, and drive strategic improvements.


Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree, certification, or equivalent experience with Electronic Security Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 2+ years of team leadership or engineering management experience.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Lenel, CCure, Honeywell, Brivo, Milestone, ExacqVision, Eagle Eye, Axis, and Hanwha.
  • Industry certifications in access control or video surveillance (e.g., Lenel Onguard, Milestone, etc.) are a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise-level networking, IP-based ESS system architecture, AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline technical teams and supporting regional or enterprise-scale project delivery.
