How much do electronic components jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 7, 2026, the average yearly pay for electronic components in the United States is $60,843.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $46,000.00 and $70,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in electronic components sourcing and procurement?

Professionals in electronic components sourcing often encounter challenges such as fluctuating supply chain conditions, component shortages, and rapidly changing technology. Staying updated on market trends and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers can help mitigate risks of delays or obsolete parts. Additionally, clear communication with engineering and production teams is essential to ensure the right components are sourced on time and meet required specifications.

What is the difference between Electronic Components vs Electronic Assemblers?

AspectElectronic ComponentsElectronic Assemblers
Primary RoleManufacturing or sourcing individual electronic parts like resistors, capacitors, and semiconductorsAssembling electronic components into finished devices or circuits
Required SkillsKnowledge of component specifications, sourcing, and testingSoldering, circuit assembly, and reading schematics
Work EnvironmentFactories, warehouses, or supply chain settingsAssembly lines, electronics labs, or manufacturing facilities
CertificationsElectronics certifications, technical trainingSoldering certifications, technical skills training

Electronic components are the individual parts used in electronic devices, while electronic assemblers focus on putting these parts together into functional products. Both roles are essential in electronics manufacturing, but they involve different skills and responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Electronic Components Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Electronic Components Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, circuit design, and component analysis, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with CAD tools (such as Altium Designer or OrCAD), simulation software, and industry standards (like IPC or RoHS compliance) is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure quality outcomes. These skills are crucial for designing reliable electronic systems, optimizing performance, and meeting industry requirements.

What are electronic components?

Electronic components are basic discrete devices or physical entities in an electronic system used to affect electrons or their associated fields. They are the building blocks of electronic circuits, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits. Each type of component has a specific function, such as controlling current flow, storing energy, or amplifying signals. Electronic components can be found in nearly all electronic devices, from simple toys to complex computers.

About Us

VCC is a leader in the electronic components market with a focus on human-machine interface (“HMI”) components and value-added solutions. Founded in 1976, the Company has nearly half a century of experience designing, engineering, and manufacturing electrical components and solutions for OEM customers across a variety of end markets.

VCC’s catalog products, custom-engineered solutions, and services are sold through the Company’s world-class global distribution network and directly to select OEM customers. Both channels provide an avenue for OEM customers to design the Company’s components and solutions into their final product. Further, once VCC’s content is part of the OEM’s drawings, the Company realizes a recurring revenue stream for the life of the customer’s product due to the high switching costs of redesign to accommodate a change.

As a full-service HMI components provider with integrated value-added engineering and electronics manufacturing capabilities, VCC is uniquely positioned to support the ongoing reconfiguration and nearshoring of supply chains by North American OEMs through its 45,000 square foot factory in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

VCC has scale and momentum.

  • Organic and acquisitive growth strategies are in place.
  • Performance-driven culture and highly engaged team (May 2025 employee engagement score: 8.87/10).
  • Significant investment in the expansion of new products, design, and manufacturing capabilities to enable growth.

Vision

A globally recognized and broadly diversified manufacturer of electronic solutions.
