Lake Lawn Resort is seeking an experienced Afternoon Engineering Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of our resort facilities during the afternoon and evening hours. This hands-on leadership position works closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure our buildings, grounds, guest rooms, and mechanical systems are safe, efficient, and operating at the highest standards.

Position Details

  • Position: Afternoon Engineering Manager
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Department: Engineering
  • Schedule: Afternoon/Evening Shift, Weekends & Holidays Required
  • Reports To: Chief Engineer

What You'll Do

As the Afternoon Engineering Manager, you will help oversee the daily operation of the Engineering Department while providing leadership and technical support throughout the resort.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in managing daily engineering operations across the resort.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and support the engineering team.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems.
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests with exceptional customer service.
  • Assist with capital improvement projects, renovations, and facility upgrades.
  • Help ensure compliance with OSHA, safety regulations, fire prevention programs, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor inventory, equipment, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Assist with scheduling staff and assigning daily work priorities.
  • Maintain engineering operations at both the resort and employee housing facilities.
  • Communicate regularly with the Chief Engineer regarding department operations and property needs.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned.
  • Perform other engineering and maintenance duties as needed to support resort operations.
Requirements:

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys leading by example and isn't afraid to jump in alongside their team.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in engineering, facilities maintenance, hotel maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and prioritize multiple maintenance projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a team.
  • Computer skills for work orders, scheduling, and communication.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency situations when necessary.

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Walk, stand, climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach overhead, and work in confined spaces.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and machinery.
  • Perform physically demanding work throughout an entire shift.
