Job description

Associate Communication Engineer

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Associate Communication Engineers to join the P-8 Mission Systems team in Kent, Washington. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining hardware across the full development lifecycle for government and international programs. The position will be 100% onsite in Kent, WA.

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon is a maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft developed for the U.S. Navy, based on the Boeing 737 Next Generation airliner. It supports anti-submarine, anti-surface warfare, and ISR missions, equipped with torpedoes, missiles, and sonobuoy deployment capabilities. As an Associate Communication Engineer, you will translate customer requirements into technical solutions and optimize Mission Computing Hardware for system integration.

Position Responsibilities:
Learns, develops, and validates requirements for various communication, navigation, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components.
Learns, develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical/electronic systems, including navigation and communication; mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.
Learns and develops architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.
Assists in trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements. Assists in conducting critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements.
Participates in the appropriate aspects of supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.
Supports senior engineers to provide support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues.
Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews.

The position will be 100% onsite in Kent, WA.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

2 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with design, integration, and test of electrical systems.
Experience with RF measurements including intermodulation distortion, phase noise, and spurious measurement test techniques.
Experience with electronics laboratory instrumentation.
Experience with product configuration management.
Experience with high frequency RF, Digital, power and analog test systems.
Experience managing/leading engineering projects.
Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams.
