Job description

The Development Engineer for Transmission, Driveline & Gear Reducer is responsible for analyzing, developing, and validating Transmission & Driveline Systems and subsystems and integration into Stellantis vehicles. Driveline systems may include Automatic or Manual Transmission, axle/limited slip devices, prop shaft, half shaft, transfer case, PTU, rear drive modules.
Stellantis products include off-road to performance vehicles of all powertrain types including BEV, Hybrid and conventional internal combustion with a significant portion being all-wheel-drive. The Development Engineer is responsible for the driveline system integration into the vehicle and ensuring the driveline system hardware and controls meet the mission profile of the vehicle and maintain the character of the brand. Responsibilities include developing development and validation plans, executing performance development and validation tests in vehicle and drive simulation environments. The engineer will work closely with driveline torque distribution system calibrators, powertrain and brake system calibrators, Chief Engineering, Product Release Center and Vehicle synthesis engineering organizations. The engineer will work within a well-defined production release and change management processes to provide a validated driveline system at every vehicle build milestone from pre-production through post-production phases.
The Engineering teams will consist of a network of global vehicle teams and both internal and external suppliers for hardware and software controls. The engineer will also support competitive vehicle benchmarking, measured load data acquisition, driveline system architecture development, control specification development and test procedure development. Travel will include limited low Mu winter, off-road and track development road trips.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field
  • 5 years of engineering experience in Automatic Transmission/Driveline/Electrified Powertrain hardware or controls
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills as well as experience with basic PC software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
  • Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, have the ability to manage multiple complex projects, and have a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Knowledge of Transmission and all-wheel-drive systems and operation
  • Simulation experience
  • Experience in test planning and execution (DVP&R)
  • Experience using data acquisition and testing tools including CANalyzer and INCA
