Are you a highly skilled and licensed electrician with a passion for leadership, safety, and high-performance systems? Do you thrive on complex problem-solving and guiding others in electrical excellence? Join the University of New Mexico Facility Services department as a Master Electrician and play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the electrical systems that power one of New Mexico's premier institutions.
As a key member of our facilities team, you'll work on complex electrical systems, provide expert-level guidance, and ensure the safe, efficient operation of campus infrastructure in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
• Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
• Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.
• Repairs and maintains motor control centers and programmable logic controls (1000 volt and below).
• Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications.
• May perform work of lower level electricians.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Reads, employs, and updates electrical panel schedules.

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Possession of a current New Mexico Electrical Journeyman License (EE98J) and a current second New Mexico Electrical Journeyman License.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Possession of an EE-98, EL-1, EL-1J License
• Experience testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment
• Experience keeping accurate maintenance record in portable recording device (iPad)
• Experience leading lower-level technicians in performing complex repairs/providing structured training
