A Day in the LifeThe Medtronic Energy & Components Center (MECC) is looking for an engineering technician to join the Design Reliability & Product Testing (DR&PT) group. This individual will join a team that provides reliability support for the full lifecycle of energy components produced at the site. This team has a history of excellence in reliability testing and product analysis for MECC components. The technician will gain exposure to core energy technologies for Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm and Pacing (CRM) and Neuromodulation & Pelvic Health (Neuro) business units. This role offers opportunity for career growth and development within a critical function at Medtronic.
We are looking for someone excited to work in a dynamic lab environment and a strong collaborator, as this team interfaces with many functions across the business. A background in Metallurgical Technology and/or Materials Science is preferred, as well as familiarity with microscopic analysis equipment and methods.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide technical support to reliability engineers to execute test plans and escalate findings during product testing.

  • Perform electrical testing of battery cells and/or capacitors, including placement of components on test, monitoring data, and interpreting results. Experience with material stability work and/or use of potentiostat testing and electrochemical impedance techniques is preferred.

  • Complete data collection and failure analysis, and summarizes findings in technical report. Utilizes Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for report writing.

  • Work closely with test equipment team to troubleshoot equipment and ensure quality of data.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Requires 1+ years of relevant technical experience, which may include a combination of practical experience and applicable training, education, or certification.

  • Requires full job knowledge of production-related systems and procedures obtained through prior work experience or education.

  • Technical degree in electrical engineering, electrochemistry, material science, metallurgical technology, or related field

  • Experience with Medtronic battery technology

  • Medical Device experience

  • Experience completing material stability work or corrosion testing

  • Technical report writing skills
