Position: Electrical Tester (High Voltage) - 1st Shift

Team: Quality Team


Primary Objective of Position:

A Tester provides validated product performance data by performing test setup, operation, troubleshooting, calibration and reporting. Internally we refer to this position as a Tester.


Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Set up, connect, test and adjust test items such as motors, generators, control equipment and specifically designed power apparatus to meet IEEE, API, NEMA and other product specifications.
  • Read information pertaining to apparatus to be tested, such as production order, engineering data sheets, process specifications, test specifications, and drawings.
  • Prepare data sheets, test plans and reports electronically to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Use auxiliary testing apparatus such as pony brakes, generators, voltmeters, ammeters, dynamometers, driving motors, tachometers, meggers and high-pot equipment.
  • Check machines for common defects before setup and, if found, reports to supervisor for proper disposition.
  • Connect test unit through necessary meters, generators, shunts, instrument transformers, resistors, reactors or other apparatus as required.
  • Collect, record and analyze data for comparison to specification.
  • Mechanical setup, test and dynamic balance of components.
  • Performs electrical in-process verification of compliance to specifications.
  • Calibrates and maintains electrical test equipment including development of electronic databases, standards, work instructions and procedures.
  • Lift and move materials using forklift, pallet jack, overhead crane or jib crane.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities in day to day work.
  • Performs to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced certificate/degree in related field desired.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and is self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work with a team and independently.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively partner and communicate with external and internal customers at all levels of the organization.


Physical Requirements:

  • Routinely lifts and moves objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally lifts and moves objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends ladders and stairs.
  • Occasionally works at heights or on platforms.
  • Occasionally positions self in various works spaces, including low, tight or confined spaces.
  • Routinely remains in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally uses repetitive motions including the wrists, hands or fingers to operate machinery or tools.
  • Occasionally operates machinery and power tools.
  • Routinely moves from one work station to another to accomplish tasks.

Pay:

$22-28/hr

Voluntary weekday and weekend overtime.

Saturday is paid at time and a half, Sundays are paid at double time!
