Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer IV) to join our Energy team. This role is intended for a talented engineer who is looking to expand their technical capabilities while developing leadership skills in the delivery of power generation, industrial, and energy infrastructure projects.

This is a hybrid position, combining office and remote work.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset, with the ability to take ownership of defined tasks and progressively grow into leading small scopes and teams.

The job responsibilities of the position will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform electrical engineering design and analysis for power generation, industrial and resources extraction systems
  • Power distribution and system architecture
  • Equipment sizing and selection
  • System studies (e.g., load flow, short circuit, protection coordination)
  • Develop calculations, reports, and technical specifications.
  • Support system modeling and simulation to evaluate performance under various operating conditions.
  • Take ownership of clearly defined tasks or portions of a project under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Support the coordination of electrical engineering activities within a project team.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and designers where appropriate.
  • Begin contributing to the leadership of tasks, deliverables, or work packages.
  • Perform quality checks on own work and participate in peer reviews.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment and integration of electrical systems.
  • Apply applicable codes, standards, and internal procedures.
  • Support the development of engineering work plans and schedules.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and technical issues to project leadership.
  • Contribute to problem-solving efforts under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Actively develop technical and leadership capabilities through project experience and mentorship.
  • Stay informed on industry practices, tools, and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in internal knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or EIT with plan to obtain PE
  • Experience in electrical engineering for energy infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Experience with electrical analysis and modeling tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM).
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant experience working at an environmental consulting firm
  • Exposure to complex, multidisciplinary project environments in the
  • Experience in Oil & Gas
  • Understanding of Power generation, Chemical, Refining and Mining industries
