Electrical Inspector

Viking, MN

The Sr. Electrical Inspector works under the direction of the Chief Inspector or Resident Engineer dependent on the nature of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The responsibilities of the Sr. Electrical Inspector shall be to assure that the Electrical, Communication, and Instrumentation installation is performed correctly. This installation must be following our drawings, plans, specifications, and the Contract Documents, all on construction projects.
  • The Sr. Electrical Inspector must have a working knowledge of the electrical, communication, and instrumentation systems for natural gas pipeline or industrial facilities.
  • This includes having a basic working knowledge of data acquisition systems and pneumatic and electrical control systems.
  • This inspector shall also have a working knowledge of the current accepted edition of the National Electric Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) under the Code of Regulations Title 49 Part 192 and its provisions.
  • Be familiar with the approved for construction drawings and our specifications.?
  • Understand the Contract document as it relates to your responsibilities on the project?
  • Maintain a detailed inspector?s log book?
  • Complete and submit applicable inspection reports that describe the work performed on the project?
  • Take proactive approach to safety on the job site and reporting safety issues to the Chief Inspector and Safety Inspector
  • Verify that all materials used on the installation comply with Company requirements.?
  • Discuss any design changes or material substitutions with the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer and obtain proper Company approval prior to proceeding with the work.
  • Keeping the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer aware of any daily problems or anticipated problems with the project.

Qualifications:

  • (5) years of experience as an Electrical Inspector/Technician or journeyman of which two years are of general pipeline or plant experience with an emphasis in electrical power and control system construction methods.
  • Also, inspector is familiar with National Electric Code (N.E.C.) guidelines.
  • Additionally the position must meet the basic qualifications of an Utility Inspector (basic inspector).
