IES Commercial, Inc. - DBA IES Electrical, seeking Purchasing Agent in Suffolk, Virginia.ย 

Job Summary

  • Initiate or receive field purchase requisitions, log and assign purchase order number, route to purchasing supervisor or project management for approval
  • Research vendor/supplier prices, delivery dates, etc. through written bid or verbal quote
  • Negotiate and place purchase orders (change orders) with selected vendors, and prepare documentation as required
  • Negotiate equipment rental agreements with suppliers, document terms, complete insurance forms
  • Negotiate and place long term or "blanket" purchase orders for routine (constantly required) materials, administer such contracts
  • Expedite/coordinate material deliveries, invoice problems with Accounting and vendor, quality requirements with Engineering, and material identification with Material Control
  • Comply with all company and customer safety policies and procedures.

Qualificationsย ย 

  • 2 years' recent electrical construction material procurement or related experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement/vendor inspection techniques, procedures, and working knowledge of accounting, financial management and business contract law
  • Proficient MS Office/EXCEL knowledge
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check, drug test, and MVR check when responsibilities require operating motor vehicles.
