About the Role

MWH is seeking a Electrical Project Engineer position to support the electrical scope of work on a critical wastewater treatment plant project in San Francisco, CA.

Essential Functions

Selected individual will provide technical support to project management and project supervision staff to ensure electrical construction work is performed efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company policy and engineering standards.

  • Assist with electrical subcontractor procurement and management, electrical package development, construction layout, equipment procurement, submittal review, manpower scheduling, quantity takeoffs, labor productivity tracking, document controls, and project controls.
  • Perform ongoing quality inspections of electrical installations; verify all work complies with permits, codes (NEC), drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare and manage documentation records such as electrical equipment submittals, status reports, redlines/as-builts, and material requirement calculations.
  • Generate drawings and sketches in support of electrical construction work, temporary power systems, method statements, change orders, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare/facilitate and submit electrical work method statements; ensure required permits and approvals are secured prior to execution.
  • Investigate and resolve electrical design interpretation issues, conflicts, and interferences. Initiate and track RFIs to resolution.
  • Layout and verify control lines, elevations, and conduit routing for precise installation of electrical systems and components.
  • Support and implement project office procedures for electrical documentation, contracts, correspondence, and technical records.
  • Maintain project management systems for accurate tracking of electrical progress, submittals, RFIs, and pay applications.
  • Attend and document electrical scope progress in project meetings. Generate weekly/monthly reports and support electrical schedule updates.
  • Assist with electrical claims analysis, change order preparation, and record management.
  • Support estimating with electrical quantity takeoffs, vendor coordination, and bid package development.
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with safety guidelines and policies on all electrical work.
  • Assist in resolving field electrical issues and perform additional duties as directed by supervisors.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management with electrical emphasis, or related field; equivalent combination of experience, skills, and training may be considered.
  • 3+ years of electrical construction experience at the jobsite level, preferably on large-scale infrastructure or heavy civil projects.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical systems, components, and installation practices.
  • Experience on large heavy civil construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and work within a larger team environment.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with others.
  • Familiarity with Project Management data base systems such as Primavera Contract Manager, Expedition, SharePoint, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with water/wastewater construction.

Compensation

  • The anticipated compensation for this position is $102,000 - $125,000/yr., depending on experience.
