Job Description

The Electrical Project Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing BEUMER's installed electrical systems across customer sites. This position applies professional electrical engineering knowledge to service-based projects, including system upgrades, retrofits, troubleshooting, and performance improvements for sorters, palletizers, stretch hoods, and conveyor systems.

This role is critical in ensuring system reliability, safety, and long-term performance, working closely with Customer Support, Field Service, Engineering, and customers to deliver lifecycle value and technical excellence.

Responsibilities:

Design and/or modify electrical systems for existing BEUMER equipment, including sorters, palletizers, stretch hoods, and conveyors, with a focus on upgrades and retrofits.

Review and interpret electrical design drawings and specifications for installed systems, including customer-provided and legacy documentation.

Evaluate and validate electrical designs and documentation from suppliers for service-related projects.

Support on-site personnel during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system optimization activities.

Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in live operational environments, minimizing downtime and ensuring system performance.

Provide technical consultation and guidance on electrical challenges encountered in the field.

Prepare and maintain accurate service-related documentation, including as-built drawings, specifications, and change records.

Develop bid specifications and scopes of work for electrical upgrades, retrofits, and panel modifications.

Travel to customer sites to support and supervise electrical installation, modification, and validation activities.

Support Project Managers in planning and executing service projects, including schedule development and tracking.

Participate in project reviews and follow-up on action items related to service engineering initiatives.

Coordinate with procurement and planning teams to source materials and resources for service and retrofit projects.

Visit job sites to assess system conditions, validate field changes, and support engineering decisions.

Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and BEUMER engineering practices.

Identify and implement opportunities for cost optimization, reliability improvement, and service execution efficiency.

Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of system issues.

Compensation range: $112,000.00 - $122,000.00 Annually 

The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Relevant experience in electrical engineering within material handling, automation, or service/support

environments preferred.

 Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in controls engineering, preferably within service or support environments.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of advanced electrical engineering concepts and system design.

Experience with power distribution, control panels, cabling, and industrial electrical systems.

Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

Familiarity with automated systems such as conveyors, sortation, and related equipment.

Proficiency with computer-based engineering and design tools.

Ability to evaluate and resolve electrical engineering issues independently in time-sensitive, operational environments.

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
