William Charles Electric, a MasTec Company, is in search of a Project Engineer to support electrical construction projects in our Transportation Group.

The Project Engineer will support the project team in the planning, design and execution of electrical infrastructure projects within transportation systems to include street lighting, traffic signals, ITS, substations, distribution, and Port of Entry upgrades.

This position will be based in our Rockford, IL office.

  • Preparing scheduling of subcontractors on site
  • Receiving and checking quality of materials
  • Completing QA/QC checklists
  • Submittals (material approvals)
  • RFIโ€™s (general questions)
  • Preparing official documents for the project, routing and finalizing
  • Preparing projects reports as needed
  • Back up documentation
  • Close-outs final quantities
  • Proposing/ negotiation extra work
  • Special projects within the Project Management function as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Management Department

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree preferred (Civil Engineers, Construction Management, or related field preferred); High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience working on electrical transportation projects

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Take reasonable care of your own and othersโ€™ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Companyโ€™s Zero Injury principles
  • Experience with Project Management systems, such as Procore, Build2Win, MS Project and/or P6 and, HCSS
  • Previous experience with Procore, Build2Win, and/or P6 a plus
  • Ability to read and understand contracts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented and good organization skills
  • Ability to communicate well with others, both written and orally
  • Proficient in Computer applications such as Microsoft and time reporting systems
  • Functional knowledge of job cost accounting
  • Thorough understanding of CPM scheduling
