Project Manager - Healthcare Facilities & Building Systems

Location: New Haven, CT

Pay Rate: $40-$55/hr

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support capital construction, infrastructure renewal, and building systems projects across a major healthcare campus. This role is responsible for managing projects from planning through completion while coordinating closely with facilities, contractors, consultants, architects, engineers, and operational stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare, institutional, or large commercial construction and possess experience managing projects involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, infrastructure upgrades, and critical building systems.


Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple construction and infrastructure projects simultaneously through all phases of delivery.
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, implementation, and closeout activities.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety performance.
  • Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation.
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide regular status reports to leadership.
  • Support capital improvement initiatives and infrastructure renewal projects.
  • Coordinate work within occupied facilities while minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, healthcare regulations, safety standards, and organizational requirements.
  • Manage contractor performance and oversee project execution from preconstruction through closeout.

Required QualificationsOption 1
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of onsite construction project experience
Option 2
  • Minimum of 4 years of onsite construction project experience managing commercial, institutional, healthcare, or infrastructure projects

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing healthcare, hospital, laboratory, pharmaceutical, higher education, or institutional projects.
  • Experience working within occupied healthcare environments.
  • Experience managing MEP systems, including:
    • HVAC
    • Electrical distribution

  • Owner's Representative or Facilities Project Management experience.
