Project Controls Engineer 2

Summary:

The Project Controls Engineer 2 assists the Project Controls Manager (PCM) in the overall management of the project cost and is specifically responsible for managing project forecast cost, budgets, tracking of invoices, labor hours, commitments, analyzing, reporting cost, and project cost/schedule/quantity change control. Will help the Project Control Manager to maximize revenue. Under the guidance of Project Controls Manager, will review all commercial activities of a project to ensure compliance is achieved with integrity to ensure the projects meet the requirements of profitability and best practice measures.

Responsibilities:


Typical work activities for the Project Control Engineer in a project environment include but are not limited to:


  • Provide comprehensive, reliable data and strategic information for the Project Cost Control function
  • Establish project Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), project charge codes on new projects and change orders as needed
  • Assist in development, and approval of the cost baseline.
  • Manage project budgets, project budget changes, and project forecast. Analyze and track labor hours, project commitments, invoices on day-to-day basis.
  • Track project change order budget and forecast regularly and coordinate with project management and finance team.
  • Prepare and update project cost report, cashflow, staffing plan on monthly basis and other ad-hoc analysis as required for the project
  • Identify the trends and provide summary analysis and risk evaluation for the project as needed.
  • Assists Project Controls Manager to plan and manage the project cost control discipline.
  • Work with schedulers, quantity surveyors, and other cost control team members regularly. Coordinate with project management team, finance, supply chain team and other project stakeholders as required
  • Ensure compliance to project control standards and procedures during project execution.
  • Assist in the proactive identification, evaluation, and monitoring of risk and opportunity in the project management environment, including mitigation planning and execution of risk management.
  • Manage the preparation and issue of the Project Control Procedures, define and manage cost control deliverables for the project as needed.
  • Manage and facilitate the Project Risk Management process as needed.
  • Effectively implement and facilitate a Change Control Process throughout all phases of the project.
  • Prepare / review and analyze PCNs and update Project Change Log for the project as needed
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports as needed.
  • Analyze and manage project contingency budget and draw down of contingency budget.
  • Participate in internal and client meetings as needed.


Education and Experience:


  • Education Degree / Associate Cost Engineer or Engineering-related disciplines.
  • Experience Above 3 years of experience as Cost Engineer, Estimator or project control specialist.

EPC and Construction experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
