Job description

With offices in Baton Rouge, Beaumont, and Houston, as well as job sites around the country, ISC has grown our team as high 3,000+ associates and offers full-service engineering, construction, and maintenance solutions throughout the United States.
The Position:
We are looking for positive, energetic Power-Line Worker with a wide variety of abilities to complement our experienced workforce.
Applicants should have the ability to:
  • Knowledgeable in communication and applicable OSHA rules and regulations
  • Adhere to safety practices and procedures, such as checking equipment regularly and erecting barriers around work areas
  • Ability to test conductors, according to electrical diagrams and specifications, to identify corresponding conductors and to prevent incorrect connections
  • Ability to open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs
  • Must be experienced in the proper operation of a digger/derrick truck and bucket truck, hydraulic pole tamper, and hydraulic impact wrenches
  • Ability to identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments
  • Ability to Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches
  • Must be experienced in the proper utilization of electrical pole-line tools and equipment such as Telescoping Hot Stick, High Voltage testers, High Voltage Phasing Sticks, and Switch & Disconnect Stick
  • Place insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints
  • String wire conductors and cables between poles, towers, trenches, pylons, and buildings, setting lines in place and using winches to adjust tension
  • Inspect and test power lines and auxiliary equipment to locate and identify problems, using reading and testing instruments
  • Attach cross-arms, insulators, and auxiliary equipment to poles prior to installing them
  • Replace or straighten damaged poles

Requirements:
  • TWIC card - (Transportation Worker Identification Credential); Go to TWIC website for more information
  • Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol test and applicable background checks
  • Must possess a current Class A CDL Driver's License
  • Minimum 4 years in line work installations
