Summary

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer/Specialist to join our Power & Drives Business Unit in our Calgary Solutions Centre. Providing technical project support, knowledge and experience relating to power systems, the successful candidate will be a driven, self-starter who enjoys a challenge and is motivated to meet and exceed customer expectations. This role will report to the Manager, Operations - Systems, Software & Solutions.

Role and Responsibilities
  • An integral component of the project team working with project management, engineering, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Working with customers' engineers to define functional requirements, managing customer expectations.
  • Responsible for electrical aspects of the project; project scope includes but not limited to:
    • Low voltage motor control centers (600VAC and below)
    • Variable frequency drives (600VAC and below)
    • Industrial electrical equipment buildings
  • Supporting projects through engineering design, integration, commissioning and start-up activities
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable engineering and safety standards, practices, procedures, plant documentation requirements and methods of installation
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. PM, CAD, Manufacturing, Sales)
  • Creating and maintaining detailed project records
  • Contributing and supporting the development and evolution of design standards
  • Understanding project management processes
Qualifications and Skills
  • Electrical Engineering degree and eligibility to register as an E.I.T or P.Eng with APEGA, or, Electrical Engineering Technologist with eligibility to register as an C.E.T or P.Tech with APEGA  is a requirement.
  • Proven experience applying CSA electrical code standards to electrical equipment sizing including conductor, size breakers, motor starter components,
  • Proven experience designing power and electrical control schematics for motor starters, VFD controls, power distribution
  • Working knowledge of equipment ratings including voltage and short circuit ratings, industry regulations, standards and practices an asset
  • Exceptional communications skills, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic with a strong customer service focus.
