Job description

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for successfully working with client project teams and design team, including designers and CAD operators to create complete designs. The ideal candidate will have the ability to successfully communicate with department members, general contractors, architects, and other members of assigned projects.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete complex plans based upon input from clients, design-build sales staff, and personal knowledge, utilizing department standards
  • Designs including building power systems, lighting design, load calculations, signal systems telecommunications to meet electrical code requirements, and budget requirements as required as client
  • Attend meetings with clients, and work with other Rex Moore personnel, including Project Managers, Estimators, Electrical Supervisors and Foreman
  • Successful communications with clients, department members, Electrical Superintendents and Foremen, and other employees
  • Provide leadership and training for other engineering team members
  • Complete lighting analysis and selection of fixtures
  • Complete load analysis of complex jobs and complete panel schedules
  • Assist and train other department members
  • Identify cost effective or cost saving design items
  • Write job specifications
  • Write and price design-build proposals
  • Assist design/build sales staff with AutoCAD plans for presentation
  • Support training of Engineers, Designers and CAD operators
  • Work with department Coordinator to organize job priorities and scheduling

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering

CAREER ADVANCEMENT:
Career advancement at Rex Moore is possible with all positions, but not guaranteed, and could be within the current department as well as other departments within the company.

LOCATION:
Rex Moore has branch offices located in Sacramento, Fresno and Hayward, CA.

COMPENSATION:
Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employees knowledge, experience and skill level.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • P.E. License in California in good standing and capable of registration in other states
  • BSEE degree from accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with building power systems, signal and telecommunications systems
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC and building codes as it applies to electrical design, including over-current protection, conductor, conductor sizing, conduit fill, derating and clearance
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting and standard commercial products and their application
  • In depth knowledge of general construction practices, building types and electrical construction
  • Extensive knowledge of signal systems, including telecommunications, electrical drafting symbols, and electrical or general construction basics
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical components, including NEMA types and sizes, and lighting
  • Ability to successfully communicate with Rex Moore Project Managers, Electricians, project members and clients
  • Utilize standard office computer based systems including Microsoft Word and Excel
