Field Engineer โ€“ Utility Engineering Support

Location: Pismo Beach, CA (Hybrid)
Field Territory: Los Padres Region
Duration: 12-Month Contract


Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Field Engineer to support utility engineering and project execution activities throughout the Los Padres Region. This position is based out of the Pismo Beach office and will support a large service territory with a high volume of electric utility projects. The ideal candidate will partner with engineering, planning, and field operations teams to coordinate project activities from initiation through execution.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with utility or engineering experience who enjoys a combination of office coordination and field support while developing their career within electric distribution and infrastructure projects.


Required Qualifications

  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in Engineering, Utility Operations, Project Coordination, Field Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience supporting electrical utility projects
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn new processes and systems quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous PG&E or utility industry experience
  • Experience working with telecommunications or infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of material ordering and Application for Work (AFW) processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • Experience supporting New Business, Maintenance Tags, or Pole Replacement projects
  • SAP experience
  • Experience using utility outage management systems or proprietary utility software
  • Knowledge of electric distribution design and construction processes


Key Responsibilities

  • Support utility engineering and construction projects throughout the Los Padres service territory
  • Assist with engineering layouts, project planning, and job package reviews
  • Conduct field visits to evaluate project sites, collect data, and support engineering decisions
  • Develop and track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
  • Coordinate material ordering and delivery to support project execution
  • Prepare and process project documentation, clearances, and work packages
  • Review material requests and identify discrepancies, shortages, or incorrect orders
