RVE (an Ardurra company) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Durham, NC.

Primary Function:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems design for educational, commercial, and industrial facilities. This is a leadership-level role with responsibility for managing complex projects and mentoring junior staff while collaborating across disciplines to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Primary Duties:
  • Support and lead the design and development of electrical systems for large-scale commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, and educational projects
  • Apply design expertise in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, fire alarms, and equipment selection/specification
  • Act as Project Manager for electrical components of multi-discipline projects, including schedule, budget, client communication, and team coordination
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Analyze complex electrical engineering problems and propose effective solutions
  • Interface with architects, civil and MEP engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure design coordination and project success
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including NEC, IBC, IECC, and NFPA
  • Perform quality control reviews of electrical drawings and specifications
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the department's growth and success

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline required
  • 6+ years of experience
  • PE license required or the ability to pursue one.
  • Ability to clarify and concisely express thoughts verbally and in written correspondence/reports/specifications
  • Provides effort and takes pride in all work assignments produced
  • Not afraid to ask for guidance/assistance in order to expedite the date of assignment deliverables
  • Ability to simultaneously work on group and individual assignments
  • Must have effective communication, management and writing skills
  • Must be skilled in the use of Word/Excel products
  • Experience with Engineering Design software including SKM
  • Experience with Lighting Design and Photometric Software
  • Experience with latest versions of AutoCAD
