Project / Electrical Engineer

Location: Lewisville, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Travel: Approximately 30–40% Travel Required

Overview

We are seeking a Project / Electrical Engineer to support automation, controls, and industrial modernization projects for manufacturing and process industry clients. This role will be involved in the full project lifecycle, from front-end engineering and design through implementation, startup, and project handoff.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a combination of project management, electrical engineering, controls systems, and customer-facing project execution. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects, including facility upgrades, automation improvements, system migrations, and new facility installations.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple projects, collaborating with customers and subcontractors, and supporting both technical and project execution responsibilities.


Key ResponsibilitiesProject Engineering & Execution
  • Support industrial automation and electrical engineering projects from concept through completion
  • Participate in front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies and project planning activities
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers and project stakeholders throughout project execution
  • Coordinate activities between internal engineering teams, customers, contractors, and vendors
Electrical & Controls Engineering
  • Define project electrical design requirements and documentation standards
  • Support the design, review, and implementation of:
    • PLC systems
    • DCS systems
    • HMI applications
    • Industrial networking solutions
    • Motor controls and MCCs
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
    • Process instrumentation systems
  • Review and interpret engineering documentation including:
    • P&IDs
    • Electrical One-Line Diagrams
    • Plot Plans
    • Control System Drawings
Construction & Startup Support
  • Coordinate subcontractors and construction support activities
  • Assist with project commissioning, startup, cutover planning, and system migrations
  • Support outage, cutover, and startup activities when required
  • Ensure project documentation, updates, and communication remain accurate throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Controls, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project engineering, electrical engineering, controls engineering, or industrial automation environments
  • Experience managing engineering projects, schedules, budgets, and customer communications
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and control systems
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, or HMI systems
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as:
    • Modbus
    • Ethernet/IP
    • DeviceNet
    • Profibus
    • OPC
  • Experience with:
    • Motor Controls
    • MCCs
