Position Overview
This Senior Electrical Engineer opportunity is with a company delivering engineering services across oil, gas and chemical projects. The role is focused on leading electrical engineering delivery across a portfolio of projects, while providing technical leadership, oversight and supervision within the electrical engineering team. This position offers the chance to influence project outcomes, support multidisciplinary delivery and contribute to high-quality engineering execution. The Senior Electrical Engineer role will suit candidates with strong technical capability, leadership experience and a background in complex industrial environments.
Role Context
This opportunity sits within the oil, gas and chemical sector and involves work across a portfolio of multidisciplinary engineering projects. The role is based within an electrical engineering team environment with responsibility for guiding engineers and designers, supporting project delivery from conception through to procurement, construction and commissioning, and maintaining close collaboration with project management, clients and other disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering delivery across multiple oil, gas and chemical projects.
  • Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, overseeing technical quality and progress.
  • Plan, organise and direct engineering activities to achieve safe, high-quality and timely project execution.
  • Collaborate with project management, clients and other engineering disciplines to meet project objectives.
  • Review and supervise electrical engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support project scope definition and ensure changes are managed in line with project change processes.
  • Provide engineering input during procurement, construction and commissioning activities, including technical evaluations and requisition support.
  • Resolve technical issues, manage discrepancies and provide guidance to lead engineers and junior team members where required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential: BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Essential: Extensive practical experience in electrical engineering within the same or similar industry, including multidisciplinary project experience.
  • Essential: 8+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Essential: Strong knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and the basic requirements of other engineering disciplines.
  • Essential: Experience in the development and design of MV and LV electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection and power management system configuration.
  • Essential: Experience performing or reviewing power system studies and protective device settings.
  • Essential: Competence with MS Office Suite and electrical engineering software including ETAP and SPL.
  • Essential: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Desirable: Professional Engineer (PE) status in the US.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management or supervisory disciplines.
