This role selects components and equipment based on detailed analysis of specifications and reliability, defines design approaches and parameters, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, innovative electronic systems. The position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals, hands-on design experience, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, and hardware systems for electronic equipment and electrical engineering applications.
  • Select components and equipment based on thorough analysis of specifications, performance requirements, and reliability considerations.
  • Determine design approaches, parameters, and methodologies for electronic systems and subsystems.
  • Conduct general engineering and design of electronic systems for small unmanned aircraft vehicles in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform schematic capture and printed circuit board (PCB) layout using Altium Designer to create manufacturable and reliable designs.
  • Apply expertise in areas such as Radio Frequency (RF), embedded control, and FPGA design to develop and integrate system solutions.
  • Design and support power electronics systems, including motor control and battery technologies such as lead acid, nickel metal hydride, and lithium-ion.
  • Troubleshoot complex electronic and electromechanical systems, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Integrate and validate systems that utilize common industry communication protocols including LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, and USB.
  • Collaborate with small teams to share a broad variety of duties, contributing to system design, integration, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in flight test operations, including on-site support and problem resolution, which may involve travel.
  • Apply sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques to develop solutions for a wide range of technical issues.
  • Share ideas and experiences with colleagues, solicit feedback, and ask relevant questions to enhance team performance and product quality.
  • Take ownership of current and past work products, ensuring they meet quality standards and align with organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrate consistency in following company policies, procedures, and engineering best practices.
  • Continuously learn from mistakes, seek opportunities to improve processes, and drive enhancements in personal, team, and organizational performance.

  • Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with office software, computer-based productivity tools, and other software tools relevant to electrical engineering work.
  • Hands-on experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Radio Frequency (RF), embedded control, or FPGA design.
  • Experience with power electronics, including motor control and battery technologies such as lead acid, nickel metal hydride, and lithium-ion.
  • Demonstrated competency in troubleshooting complex electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with common industry communication protocols including LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, and USB.
  • Strong knowledge of general engineering fundamentals, including mathematics, physics, and material properties.
  • Ability to resolve a wide range of technical issues using creative and practical approaches.
  • Sound judgment in the selection of methods and techniques for obtaining engineering solutions.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where small teams share a broad variety of duties.
  • Clean driving record to support travel requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
