Job description

Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early‑career Electrical Engineer to contribute to a 24/7 float glass manufacturing facility. The role focuses on hands-on troubleshooting, support of automated systems, and continuous improvement of plant operations. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure reliable equipment performance, enhance automation, and support safe, efficient manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, PLC, and network issues on plant equipment to minimize downtime and maintain reliable production.
  • Support the installation and upgrade of industrial equipment, including scoping requirements, designing solutions, coordinating procurement, and assisting with startup and commissioning.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain PLC and HMI programs to optimize equipment performance and support process improvements.
  • Provide technical support for motors, drives, power distribution, and automation systems across the facility.
  • Train maintenance and operations teams on electrical and automation systems to improve equipment uptime, performance, and safe operation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, product quality, equipment reliability, and overall plant efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement improvements in automated packaging, robotics, and other automation technologies.
  • Interpret and apply electrical schematics and drawings during troubleshooting, system modifications, and new installations.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 2–5 years of industrial or manufacturing experience in an electrical or automation engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with HMI systems, electric motors, variable frequency drives, and general electrical power distribution systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex electrical and automation issues.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Experience working with automation systems, including automated packaging equipment and robotics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation and Allen-Bradley platforms, including Studio 5000 (FactoryTalk Studio 5000) for CompactLogix and MicroLogix PLCs.
  • Experience using FactoryTalk View for HMI development and support.
  • Hands-on experience with PowerFlex variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Knowledge of industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP and similar communication protocols.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar electrical and mechanical design tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Interest in continuous improvement, automation optimization, and modern manufacturing technologies.
  • Motivation to grow within a large, expanding organization with substantial nationwide operations.
Work Environment

The role is based in a 24/7 float glass manufacturing facility that operates continuous production processes. You will work around large industrial equipment, automated packaging systems, robotics, and advanced electrical and automation infrastructure. The environment is fast-paced and highly technical, with a strong emphasis on safety, product quality, and equipment reliability. You will regularly interact with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams on the plant floor, supporting live equipment and ongoing projects in a modern, growing glass manufacturing operation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
