Electrical Design Intern
Location: Chicago, IL

Exp Federal is an established Chicago-based full service architectural and engineering firm that provides a full range of exceptional design solutions and construction support to the federal government. Our team of professionals operates in some of the most challenging environments to provide support services to a variety of governmental agencies globally.
The Challenge:
We are seeking an Electrical Design Intern to join our growing design team in our Chicago office. This role will serve as a unique learning experience and will work closely with project managers and building specialists such as architects, civil/electrical/mechanical engineers, and fire protection engineers.

Principle areas of responsibility are:

  • Assist with electrical projects, proposal preparation by preparing estimates and associated calculations, screening subcontractors, and conducting other bid activities.
  • Support project managers with project execution administration as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of reports and other document preparation as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Engineering Program at an ABET Accredited University.
  • 0-1 years of experience (prior internship experience desired)
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.,)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work performance.

Salary Base:

This internship position as an Electrical Design Intern, level I has an hourly base rate of $20-$24. This position is eligible for overtime in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. The actual hourly rate is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
