When you join BW Design Group as a Department Manager - Electrical, you are joining an ENR ranked AEC firm that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world's leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
What You'll Do
You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.
  • Lead the development of electrical design packages for cGMP manufacturing facilities, including power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems
  • Apply your expertise in power distribution - 480V 3-phase systems, grounded/ungrounded configurations, feeder sizing, grounding, cable tray design, switchboard/service sizing, and life safety systems
  • Responsible for department hiring, workload planning, performance reviews, and coordination with regional and national discipline leaders
  • Collaborate directly with clients to understand project goals, present design strategies, and build long-term trusted relationships
  • Leverage your field experience and constructability knowledge to ensure practical, installation-ready designs
  • Contribute to client development efforts by helping identify new project opportunities and delivering outstanding technical solutions
  • Strengthen internal connections across disciplines and support the growth of our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice
  • Participate in planning, proposal development, and project profile creation as a key team contributor
  • Play an integral part in shaping team culture and project execution standards through your day-to-day leadership and communication

What You'll Bring
  • 12 years of experience in electrical engineering design for manufacturing or industrial facilities within architecture/engineering firm environments
  • Experience acting as Engineer of Record (EOR) with active involvement in design development and delivery
  • Technical proficiency in low voltage (120V-480V) electrical power distribution systems (medium voltage experience is a plus)
  • Deep knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and ability to apply relevant codes and standards to all designs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with AEC industry software such as REVIT, AutoCAD, eTAP, SKM, Visual, Easy Power, ElumTools, BlueBeam, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and technical presentations
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits, start-up support, training, and industry events
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
