Job description

Job Summary:
Centrus Energy is seeking a proactive Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. If you have hands-on experience or training with industrial control panels, MCCs, and low-voltage power distribution (under 1000 V), this is your opportunity to build a career at the cutting edge of nuclear technology.
In this role, you will work directly with senior engineers and contractors, contributing to the design, sizing, and commissioning of critical power-distribution and motor-control equipment for process-control applications.
What You Will Do:
  • Design & Layout: Support the design and layout of motor control centers (MCCs), switchboards, and panelboards for facility power systems
  • Documentation & Schematics: Create and update detailed single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interlock logic, and bills of material (BOM)
  • Equipment Selection: Assist in specifying and selecting vital equipment, including contactors, drives, transformers, UPS systems, and grounding components
  • Engineering Analysis: Perform load checks, short-circuit inputs, and basic electrical calculations using ETAP, EasyPower, or advanced spreadsheets under senior guidance
  • Protection & Control: Help develop, document, and implement protective relay settings and interlock logic for low- and medium-voltage systems
  • Compliance & Testing: Create panel layouts, drive UL 508A compliance, witness factory acceptance tests (FAT), and support field commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Safety & Standards: Participate in hazard analyses, quality assurance, and regulatory audits; ensure all work adheres to safety codes, standards, and site procedures
  • Reporting: Produce clear technical reports, project progress updates, and presentations for stakeholders
  • Adaptability: Perform additional, related tasks as assigned to support project success

We'd Love to Hear from Candidates With:
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as an electrical technician, junior designer, or similar role
  • Familiarity with industrial control panels, MCCs, and low-voltage power distribution (under 1000 V)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related technical field) or equivalent practical experience
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP, EasyPower) is a plus
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a "Q" Clearance

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.
