Job description

Position Summary

Westphal & Co., Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee electrical construction projects from bid through closeout. This role is responsible for driving project efficiency and profitability while serving as the primary liaison between clients, field teams, and internal stakeholders. The Project Manager will split time between the office and job sites to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating

  • Prepare estimates for plans & specifications, design-build, and conceptual projects

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and solicit/evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes

  • Secure competitive material and equipment pricing

  • Utilize company estimating software and proprietary labor/material databases

  • Review pricing strategies and construction methods to improve future estimates

Business Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients

  • Support business development efforts aligned with company goals

  • Collaborate with Project Executives to pursue new markets and opportunities

  • Represent the company through civic, social, and trade activities

Project Management

  • Manage projects in compliance with contracts, industry standards, and NEC requirements

  • Oversee preconstruction through project closeout

  • Coordinate with foremen to plan, schedule, and staff projects efficiently

  • Monitor productivity, costs, and profitability; implement corrective actions as needed

  • Manage project correspondence, meetings, billings, and monthly job cost projections (WIP)

  • Negotiate material and equipment purchases

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience with an electrical contractor

  • Experience in commercial, industrial, and solar projects

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field

  • Experience with electrical estimating software

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and industry standards
